The Week Ahead
Earnings season is almost over for another couple of weeks! Next week however we still have some decent earnings to peruse next week. I’ve highlighted those I'm most interested in below. ORCL, ASAN, S, ADBE, RBRK & SMTC are my highlights for the week but there are several others I will keep an eye on RDW, SFIX, PATH, DOCU etc.
ADBE chart looks poised if they can manage something positive, the bar is very low here on a quality company Outside of Revs & EPS, Net new ARR will be the KPI. SMTC is another interesting one after being hammered recently with customer concentration issues. The bar will be low here too. ORCL will set the tone for the week and usually Larry Ellison is good for a pump. I’m quite interested also in recent IPO RBRK which had great earnings last season.
Mostly however I am concentrating on whether we see a reasonable two to three day bounce in the market and the big liquid names. I am swinging (de-risked) PLTR & TSLA over the weekend as my market proxy for a bounce. The constant news cycle bombs make any sort of swings difficult right now but Friday felt like a short term watershed moment in my opinion at least for a few days.
In terms of Macro we have JOLTS on Tuesday morning and on Wednesday we have CPI Data & PPI Thursday & Michigan Sentiment Report Friday. This is an action packed economic week. I have no comment (or idea) on what will happen with these but they will for sure cause volatility along with whatever other headlines are pounding the tape. Note the clocks go FORWARD on Sunday night in NY so the market will open an hour early!
We also have several conferences this week including Barclays Global Healthcare, Cantor Global Technology, Citi Global Consumer & Retail and JPM Industrials. I haven’t found any absolute stand out speakers or presentations in these to be aware of apart from CEO & CFO of MAT (Mattel, recent top pick) speaking on March 12th.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
