TLDR Stocks in Play: PTCT, DIS, NBIS NVCR, NBIS CRYPTO
Welcome to today's Stocks in Play report. Below are the key stocks to watch, along with brief x-ray and analysis.
Benzinga PRO 60% OFF Subscription now available for Cyber Monday. This includes SQUAWK & Full Benzinga Essentials - Scanners, Signals, Fundamentals, Tradingview Charts. This is my main tool with Stocks in Play research and the Squawk provides valuable and incredibly fast information throughout the day, far quicker than more expensive alternatives I’ve used. Check out the Deal Here
1) Novocure (NVCR) (Rating: B-, Single-Day,)
Industry Group: Medical Specialties, Market Cap: $2.6b, Float: 97m, Short Interest: 5.8%, Days to Cover: 5.5, Exchange: NASDAQ
Catalyst: Positive Phase 3 Data. Met their primary endpoint with statistically significant improvement in overall survival for patients with locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The survival rate benefit for patients treated with TTFields therapy increased over time with a 13% improvement in the overall survival rate at 12 months and a 33% improvement in survival rate at 24 months. TTFields therapy was well-tolerated, and safety was consistent with prior clinical studies. As always Biotechs are treated as Day Trade opportunities for me.
2) PTC Therapeutics (PTCT) (Rating: B+, Single-Day)
Industry Group: Pharmaceuticals, Market Cap: $3.38b, Float: 74m, Short Interest: 6.3%, Days to Cover: 6.5, Exchange: NASDAQ
Catalyst: Signed exclusive global license agreement with Novartis NVS for it’s Huntington’s disease program. PTC will receive up front payment of $1b and up to $1.9b in development and regulatory milestones as well as a profit share in the US. PTC518 is the leading oral disease modifying therapy in development for Huntington’s disease. (Conference call at 8:30am EST) Low volume pre market currently.
Honorable Mention to: DIS - Moana 2 became the highest ever grossing Thanksgiving release beating previous holder Frozen II in 2019 with $221m. It also broke the record for biggest 5 Day Opening beating Super Mario Bros. I expect this to be a talking point today on the CNBC type shows with sentiment having been so poor up to recent earnings along with Black Friday Sales reports for ecom Stores - AMZN, SHOP etc. CRYPTO - Michael Saylor presented Bitcoin to MSFT over the weekend and MARA announced a Private offering this morning of $700m and that it had bought $600m of Bitcoin. Potential for a reversal green on this and other crypto still in play. I like the look of COIN also. NBIS - AI Company spun out from Russian tech giant Yandex Raising $700m capital from investors including NVDA. Reasonably
Market Awareness
A lot of the same stocks continuing their moves in the pre market from last week - Quantum Computing, Space Stocks, Drone Stocks, a lot of these are extended now and without news which makes them difficult to do anything with. Monday’s are probably my least favorite SIP days unless there is something incredibly obvious from the weekend. There are some good delayed reaction setups from the November Top Picks (Link) I will look at those mainly as well as a cautious approach to todays more speculative picks in Biotech.
After Hours I’m Watching: ZS, CRDO (Earnings)
Tomorrow Morning I’m Watching: AMZN - AWS CEO Keynote @8am P.T. , SQ - CFO Presenting at UBS Global Technology & AI Conference 11:55am PST WMT - CEO to participate in Keynote Fireside Chat at 11:45am CT
Top Pick Watchlists:
LONG: ALAB, HNST, SNOW, ESTC, RKLB, SMTC, URBN, PLTR, GAP, TSLA, SE, RDDT, DESP
SHORT: TGT
Top Picks - December 2024 (currently empty)

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
