1) Progress Software Corp. (PRGS) (Rating: B, Single-Day)
Industry Group: Packaged Software, Market Cap: $2.25b, Float: 45m, Short Interest: 14%, Days to Cover: 8, Exchange: NASDAQ
Catalyst: Strong beat on EPS ($1.31 vs est. $1.06) Small Beat on Revs, Strong Operating Margins Beat, Raised Guidance. Low float and relatively high short interest. Solid SIP candidate today.
Honorable Mention to: NMAX - Insane IPO move yesterday, tiny float. Could easily continue parabolic today. CORT - Episodic Pivot yesterday with Phase III news. Watching for a Day 2 on this also.
Market Awareness
I expect today to be similar to the day prior to FED Decision days at the height of the inflation narrative. Lots of choppy action and not much movement in the overall market, potential to sell off into tomorrow’s tariff event. One thing I will consider though is that it has paid to fade every single Trump threat so far. There is massive panic and doom regarding tomorrow’s announcements. If Trump sticks to form then they will be milder than feared with lots of caveats and talk of negotiations. Hopefully this becomes a buy the news event. Looking for singles only today. Tight and tactical and if the market will give me some free money I’ll take it and be grateful!

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
