1) Viking Therapeutics (Rating: B, Single-Day)

Industry Group: Biotech, Market Cap: $2.5b, Float: 108m, Short Interest: 24.5%, Days to Cover: 5.7, Exchange: NASDAQ

Catalyst: Moving on News this morning that Pfizer are scrapping their GLP-1 drug. VKTX is widely seen as a potential M&A target for large Pharma due to their successful development of a GLP-1 Drug that competes with Ozempic etc. Stock has high short interest, NVO & LLY are also moving positively this morning. Very beaten down name and has the ability to make big moves.

Honorable Mention to: GS - Solid results, Beat on Revs, Strong beat on EPS, Strong results in all Sectors. Announced new $40b buy back scheme. Likely some of this move has already been priced in with earnings from other banks last week. The EPS beat is partially due to unusually low tax rate so is not a high quality beat. Reasonable High priced stock to look at today.

Added After Publication: PLTR - NATO has acquired an AI-powered military system from them.

Market Awareness

Gapping up this morning as expected last night. I think we are likely to fade but that it will be buyable later in the day or on a gap down tomorrow. I will be reducing risk into the gap up but I am bullish for the next few days short of any new ridiculousness from the US Administration. There will be plenty of commentary from Trump and associates but it’s not hitting the market any more. To spark a real sell off we would need to see some new sort of escalation I believe.
